From the Vice-Chairman:

The day concluded with a prize giving and "thank you" evening sponsored by Fine & Country.
This is very much the end of an era and the start of a new beginning so there was extra poignancy in the speeches and remarks made as the presentations unfolded. The winners included;

First team

Coaches player – Kevini Tuaimei’api

Most improved – Bradley Whatley

Seconds

Coaches player – Ed Mills

Most improved – Ali Edington

Clubman of the year

Phil Kearley

Alan Black also again organised the supporters award which is voted for by suporters each week.

The winner was Aka, Kevini got the second most votes closely followed by Chris Diamond.

Well done to all the winners. Great speeches and uplifting contributions also from Kevin Dobie and Chris Diamond.

The core of the evening was a massive thank you and recognition of the service, support , commitment and dedication given by three club stalwarts who are having a well-deserved rest. In an Oscars-style addition to procedings, we were joined from America by Gary Sharp who added his appreciations via video link!

Steve Robbins has been the workhorse behind the 1st XV for some years. Always there, always dependable and even when he was not at all well still made sure the kit was ready, the organisation was in place, and the day ran for the players smoothly. Steve, we thank you so much because without volunteers such as you we could not function as a club. Enjoy your rest and we look forward to seeing you at the club to watch the rugby rather than help organise it!

Elisi Vunipola - steps down as DoR after 9 years having been enticed to the club to help us climb through the leagues which of course we did to level 5. Having international caps for Tonga and well connected throughout the rugby world he has helped bring new and emerging talent to the club. A respected coach and quiet but inspirational leader he will be a hard act to follow. Thank you Elisi for everything you have done for us.

Dave Pittams - if there was ever a backbone to our club it is Dave. Always there, always in control of both the 1st XV and 2nd XV organisation and selection. The person who makes things happen both on and off the pitch. Has had two sons play for the club and now supports grandchildren also playing for MRFC. His contribution cannot be overstated, his dedication and support for the club are immeasurable and whilst he is stepping back, he has promised not to go too far! Thank you, Dave.

All three were given appropriate presents to mark their time with Marlborough Rugby.
