In the early days Melksham was always a hard fixture to play. and probably had  more victories than MRFC, although they were often very close results.
During the initiation of Leagues they achieved Dorset and Wilts Division 1 status where as Marlborough RFC were put in Division 2.
So they were not a normal 1st XV fixture until leagues began and MRFC got promoted or Melksham were demoted.
Original League in 1991.
Marlborough would play their 2ndXV’s at this time, plus Mintey, Trowbridge , Calne and Hungerford to name
