In his reports Alec Thomas wanted to include all aspects of the club so he invited comments from our friends from the Pacific Islands. They have changed the direction of the club. Their type of play has brought much pleasure to club supporters and surprised the opposition. Marlborough Rugby Club has achieved unimaginable levels, to which the Club is proud of!
REASONS WHY PACIFIC ISLANDERS ARE FLOCKING TO MRFC by Inosi Laqekoro (Knoxy)
Rugby is and will always be a big part of any Pacific Islander’s life. We travel the world to play RUGBY, but we play at our best when we at home or feel at home. Why Marlborough you may ask?
Firstly, LOCATION
With Marlborough being close to one of the largest Army Garrison, the club is ideally located for us soldiers, as most islanders have answered the Queen’s call.
Secondly, ATMOSPHERE
The town life is so laid back it just takes us back to the Island lifestyle, where family comes first, and our traditions are passed to the younger generations. Everyone is so welcoming and the overwhelming support we get is undeniable.
Thirdly, PACIFIC RUGBY
We try our best to play our rugby but at the same team mix it with a bit of English rugby, we may not be disciplined at times, but we will move mountains for the love of rugby. We enjoy our running rugby and it seems that Marlborough also loves our game style.
So, these are the reasons, I believe that we Pacific Islanders, call Marlborough HOME.
