This fixture was picked up from the fixture pool late on the Friday Night.
The M.R.F.C. was due to play Cholsey in a friendly fixture, unfortunately they could not raise a team, so the choice was Cirencester 1stXV or no game. This would result in disappointment for the players and referee and wastage of the food prepared for the fixture.
In that year they won the Stroud & District Combination Senior Cup.In the Cirencester Team at No 8 was John Newman an ex Marlborough player . He moved home to Cirencester due to work commitments .
Cirencester at the time were regarded as a high flying team in the Stroud & District Combination.
