The Marlborough Rugby Colts (Under 18s) delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Devizes RFC Colts 17–0 and secure their place in the final.
The opening try came just 10 minutes in, when Sam Piper intercepted the ball through sharp work from the backs. He sidestepped the defence and burst over the line to put Marlborough ahead 5–0. The conversion was missed.
Marlborough doubled their lead with a second try scored uphill. Strong phase play set the platform, with Raif contributing key work in the build-up before Jack powered forward with an impressive 20-yard carry to cross the line. The conversion was again unsuccessful, making it 10–0 at halftime.
Early in the second half, Marlborough executed a slick attacking move which saw Fred Hozier go over for their third try. This time, Lawrence added the extras to extend the lead to 17–0.
It was a complete team performance from Marlborough Colts, with Doug Lemon deservedly named Man of the Match by the opposing captain.
The final whistle confirmed a 17–0 victory over Devizes Colts, sending Marlborough through to the final where they will face Wimborne. That match is scheduled for Sunday 8 March on The Common - more details to follow, but your support will be appreciated!
