Marlborough RFC

22 - 10

(HT 0-0)

Bournemouth RFC

The Chairman watched this match and can report as follows:

"This was a seriously good performance by our Under 18s.  The opposition was a well-drilled unit and had some huge players, but our boys withstood the test extremely well - winning scrums and competing in the line-out, even whilst Storm Amy was doing her best to interfere with procedings!  Our forwards worked hard around the breakdown and were collectively very sound; the backs ran well, picked out good lines, and showed some real dexterity and ball-skill.

"The tries were well-deserved and really well-worked - I especially enjoyed the try from a penalty about ten metres out and our hooker's storming run to score at the base of the posts!  Equally good was the try that came from a clever grubber kick through the Bournemouth defence by our winger, him chasing his own kick and dotting down made it a joy to watch.

"All round an impressive performance against seriously good opposition.  This makes it two good wins from two.  The boys travel to Salisbury in a fortnight's time, so there is plenty to be perfecting in the meantime!

"Congratulations to all, but especially to Hendricus Brenk, the Man of the Match for his consistently good play throughout.  Credit to the coaching staff of Marcus, Kevin, Nick, and Halani - this is a good set-up and the Club is proud of you all."
