From our Vice-Chairman, who was amongst the spectators:
"...those of you who came up to The Common on Sunday saw a true local derby with both sides really pushing themselves towards victory. Devizes were, for much of the game pushing hard, and with a large contingent of travelling support cheering them on. They had some strong forwards who liked to run with the ball; however, our defence was magnificent - holding out wave after wave of attack within our 22. Not to be outdone, not only did we defend well, but we were also fast in attack and when the ball went down the line always looked threatening. Right up to within the last few minutes, it was very tight; but then Marlborough scored a great running try in the bottom corner, which was converted, to win 22 v 15. It was a fabulous game, such passion, great coaching and a wonderful team spirit. Just what rugby should be all about."
