From the Under 14s coaching staff:
On Sunday 12th October, the Marlborough Rugby Under 14s (known to themselves as the 'Stags'!) visited local rivals Devizes for their first competitive game in the Dorset and Wiltshire youth cup competition for Under 14s sides.
Previous fixtures between these teams have seen scores separated by just one point, showing how close they both are. This game was no different as Devizes overcame a 9-point deficit to score the winning try in the last two minutes to take away a 20-19 home win.
Devizes’ defence was really strong, but the 'Stags' played a full game to the playing structure we have been implementing this year and spent long periods of time pressuring the opposition defence. We were organised in attack, the boys' set piece was solid and we looked dangerous...
Although we now drop down to the next level of the D&W competition, the coaches are confident that we are capable of competing for some silverware!
