Frome RFC

88 - 7

(HT 0-0)

Marlborough RFC

It was an under-strength Nomads squad that made its way to Frome to face the Somerset side's 1st XV - a tough ask at the best of times.  The situation was made worse by travel disruption leading to us kicking-off with only fourteen players...!

But the men never let their heads go down.  In the first half, it was an unequal encounter, with Frome piling pressure on across the pitch and scoring ten unanswered tries, one of which was judged to be a penalty try and so we were reduced to thirteen men for ten minutes.

But the second half was a better and more coherent performance.  Back up to full strength and with some vitality and encouragement injected at half-time by Kevin D and Knoxy, the boys ran out with more determination.  The second period of forty minutes saw Frome score only three times more - and the Nomads got onto the scoreboard with a well-worked try of their own.  This was a much better second half performance and shows what our 2nd XV is actually capable of...

Flanker, Ratu Saqanavere, was the Marlborough player of the match.

The Nomads are at home against Corsham 1st XV on The Common on Saturday 24 January.  Your support and loud cheering from the touchline will be invaluable!
