We are absolutely thrilled to announce the appointment of Matt Garvey as Head Coach for the 2026/27 season.
Matt brings a huge amount of top-level experience following an outstanding professional playing career spanning more than 180 Premiership appearances with London Irish, Bath Rugby, Gloucester Rugby and Worcester Warriors, alongside representative honours for England Saxons. A former Captain at Bath Rugby, Matt is widely respected throughout the game for his leadership, professionalism and rugby knowledge.
This is a hugely exciting appointment for Marlborough Rugby. It is a massive statement of intent as we continue building for the future of the Club, both on and off the pitch. We hope you are as excited as us, we cannot wait to welcome Matt into the Marlborough Rugby family and we are all are incredibly excited for what’s ahead under his leadership.
And, to add to our breaking news on the coaching front, we are equally delighted to confirm that we have retained Halani Aulika as our scrum coach!
Halani is a well-known and widely-respected member of the Marlborough Rugby family, having both played and coached for the Club in previous years.
Halani brings a huge amount of knowledge and experience to the Club following an incredible professional career playing for the likes of: Highlanders, London Irish, Sale Sharks, FC Grenoble, and having been included in both the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups for Tonga!
His commitment to and passion for Marlborough Rugby is clear and is recognised throughout the whole Club. We can’t wait to continue to build under his guidance.
